What is the good news of Jesus Christ?

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose again as the Lord who gives eternal life to all who receive His forgiveness by faith. Because of our disobedience to God, we all face death and separation from Him. But because God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, who is Jesus, as a sinless sacrifice to take the punishment we deserve. When we turn from our sin to follow Jesus, God promises to save us from judgment and bring us into a right relationship with Him as His beloved children. Eternal life is to personally know God the Father and His Son Jesus, who has promised to return for His people and rule and reign with them forever.

How can I receive this promise of forgiveness and eternal life?

Confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Turn from your sin and ask Him to forgive you. Trust Him to save you by faith.

Is it really that simple? Is there something else I must do?

When you confess Jesus as Lord, you are surrendering your life to follow Him as a disciple. But His forgiveness is purely a gift of grace. We can never earn God’s favor. We simply receive it by trusting in Him.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
— Ephesians 2:8-9
